Turn Off the Power

This shutoff may be in a switch box, or it might be a pull lever or fuse block. Be sure the AC unit is disconnected before continuing.
Vacuum & Clear Debris
This part will really make a difference. Take a vacuum and clean the fins with a softly bristled end (that way you won’t hurt the fins themselves). You may have to unscrew and lift a metal box to get at them. While you’re cleaning the fins, look around the AC condenser unit to see if there’s any other debris around. Grass clippings, weeds, branches, etc. can all be sucked into the condenser. Once the vacuuming is done, clear the debris from around the unit away.
Straighten the Fins
While you’re cleaning you may see that some of the fins are slightly bent. This is a great opportunity to take a butter knife and gently bend them straight. If you find fins that are completely crushed, you’ll have to call a reliable AC repair company to fix the issue.
Remove the Fan
Using a screwdriver, remove the fan from the AC’s condenser unit. There are wires attached so it can’t be completely removed. You’ll now be able to get into the machine with the vacuum. You can clean off the fan with soap and water at this time.
Clean the Fins
Take a hose and wash off the fins from the inside of the AC unit. This should clear up any remaining debris on the unit. While you’re inside, you can lubricate the motor’s bearings. You won’t have to lubricate them if the AC unit is new.
